I’m beginning to believe it is physically impossible to take a bad picture of Amanda Palmer.

So I’m DJing a wedding in July. The groom likes Country, the bride’s father likes Reggae, and the bride says she likes everything. With this eclectic selection, I don’t know how much actual mixing I’ll be doing. So, the decision I face is: Do I take my full rig (laptop, controller, etc…) or do I just take the PA and my iPad running TraktorDJ?
The benefit of using the iPad is that it’s simple, light, and I can probably run the whole gig on battery power alone (obviously I’ll take the power cord for backup). The downside is limited music storage, mono output (TraktorDJ splits the stereo channel for monitoring) and, it’s just not that impressive looking.
Let me know what you guys think.
I’ve spent the evening setting up PreSonus Studio One Pro and downloading all the gigabytes of instruments, samples, loops and effects that they include with it.
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

Paul Winter “Sweet for Solstice” Live on Soundcheck
“Everyone’s trying to get rich, or bitching that they’re poor. People no longer discuss music, but their financial stability. Furthermore, money is the ultimate arbiter. If someone sells a lot of tickets or a lot of tracks you can’t say a negative thing about them. This coarsens our society….
True dat.
